Master Degree

Apart from their effective role in promoting public awareness and respect for laws guaranteeing the rights of various segments within the society and increasing further concern among governmental and non-governmental organizations for protection and promotion of those rights, these studies can also play an undeniable role in upgrading the abilities of legal and international relations experts thus facilitating their participation in current serious global debates with a view to safeguarding sacred religious traditions and developing religious perspective in the field of human rights in the world.

Over the part few decades, human rights seem to have gradually evolved from a mere subject of international law into what comes to be regarded as the ‘universal law’. This view is increasingly adhered to that ‘human individual’ is the ultimate subject of rights and states can no longer be treated as the exclusive subject of rights in the international community. Bringing such a drastic change at a world level requires serious academic studies on human tights thus making the establishment of programs on human rights studies necessary. Human rights studies is a newly established academic field whereby human rights issues are studied from a comparative or legal and international relations standpoint. This program consists of two main subfields which include: Human Rights in International Relations and Comparative Human Rights Studies. Students are expected to take their elective courses and write their thesis in one of the two subfields.
